In 2019, I joined a dragon dancing club and, with only 4 weeks of training, was thrown into a 3-day National Dragon + Lion Dancing Camp where I got to watch and take part in performances. Lots of fun memories were made on that trip, some of which I recorded in comic form here. Enjoy!
A crude but comprehensive description of dragon dancing:
Give 9 people 9 metal poles attached to one long dragon, and give a 10th person a separate pole attached to a Pearl, which represents wisdom.
Make the 9 people follow the 10th person around and have them do tricks like swinging the dragon, jumping the dragon, doing sit-ups on the dragon, etc, etc.
Make it beautiful, don’t die, and you’ve got yourself dragon dancing.
